Chance-McKay
Celebrant
I am a highly motivated, creative and dedicated person having spent the past 40 years working within the public sector. For 31 years I was a high ranking police officer and for the last 10 years worked as Head of Service in a prestige Central London Council. My whole working ethos has been about serving the public and providing the best possible service that I am able to.
Throughout my career I have seen the absolute best in people - and the worst. I have stood side-by-side with people in their life-defining times. I have supported people through tragedy and triumph. I have been there for individuals and communities. Those times ground me in my belief of the human heart that give us purpose, joy, hope and grief.
Having taken retirement in 2026 I then decided to use all of the skills I have gained throughout my career to create Chance in a Lifetime. I realised early on that no matter whether it is a baby-naming ceremony, a wedding or a loved ones farewell, that was exactly what I am doing - playing a small but important part in other people's lifetimes. A fleeting moment in time that will stay with families long after I have gone. I don't take for granted how important my responsibilities are and what it means to be there for others at times that matter the most. Whether the occasion is joyous, happy or sad, my intention is to provide beautifully crafted ceremonies that have been created with the family at the heart and delivered in a manner that befits the occasion.
I am based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent and I can provide a celebrant service anywhere in Kent, Sussex and South London area. Whilst I prefer face-to-face meetings with families in preparing for any type of ceremony, if it is easier, I can meet online at times convenient to yourself.
I particularly like to cater for same-sex celebrations as I come from the community myself and have been very happily married to my partner for the past 10 years. Three years ago we adopted an amazing and resilient 5 year old boy to make our family complete. I also have three other grown up sons who are all now embarking on long term relationships, marriages and babies ! So hopefully lots more work in the offing for the future !
My motto - "Crafting Moments that Matter" is not just a strapllne - it is my mission. All my ceremonies are crafted in collaboration with the families to ensure that they get the service that they deserve.
Please contact me for details of my rates and availability via the contact page on this site.
When I am asked to conduct funeral services for children I donate my fees to a charity of the familes choice.
